Lenovo and ASUS have shifted their focus from foldable laptops to dual-screen PCs, unveiling refreshed models at CES 2025. While foldable laptops like the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold and ASUS Zenbook Fold offered innovative versatility, their high prices limited their accessibility to the general public. The discontinuation of these models has paved the way for dual-screen laptops, providing users with increased screen real estate without the hefty price tag.
Lenovo’s dual-screen Yoga Book has evolved over the years, with the latest iteration, the Yoga Book 9i (Gen 10), showcasing significant improvements. The laptop features dual 14-inch OLED panels with a 2.8K resolution and a 120Hz variable refresh rate for enhanced visual experience. Despite the larger display and chassis, Lenovo managed to reduce the weight while incorporating a more powerful processor and increased RAM and storage options.
On the other hand, ASUS maintained the design of its Zenbook DUO for 2025, focusing on performance enhancements rather than a complete overhaul. The Zenbook DUO (2025) boasts dual 14-inch OLED displays, Intel’s latest Core Ultra Series processors, and improved wireless connectivity. ASUS’s laptop offers a more budget-friendly option compared to Lenovo’s Yoga Book 9i, making it an attractive choice for consumers.
While both laptops excel in providing additional screen space for enhanced productivity and multitasking, they do come with their own set of limitations. The Yoga Book 9i’s design still lacks a physical touchpad and backlight for the keyboard, while the Zenbook DUO’s camera and speaker quality are average. However, the overall positive reception of these dual-screen laptops indicates a growing preference for this form factor over foldable screens.
Looking ahead, the market for folding laptops may see a resurgence in the future, but for now, dual-screen laptops like the Zenbook DUO and Yoga Book 9i offer a more practical and cost-effective solution for users seeking increased productivity on the go. With ongoing advancements in display technology and performance, dual-screen laptops are poised to become a popular choice among consumers looking for a balance between functionality and affordability in their portable computing devices.
