Innovator Uses Coffee to Cool PC, Sparks Creativity Debate

Modern computers are known for generating a significant amount of heat, usually managed through fans or water cooling systems. However, one innovative individual, Doug MacDowell, decided to take a unique approach by using hot coffee as a coolant. Instead of traditional water, Doug integrated a PC build onto a General Electric drip coffee maker, resulting in a hybrid system that serves both as a computer and a functional coffee maker.

The setup involves the coffee maker percolating coffee into a carafe, which is then pumped through radiators on top of the PC. The coffee circulates through the water block on the CPU and back to the carafe, creating a continuous cooling cycle. Initially, the coffee’s high temperature posed a risk to the PC, but after circulating for 75 minutes, the system stabilized at a cool 33 degrees Celsius.
