This package includes MasteringEngineering®

Computer systems: A Programmer's Perspective explains the underlying elements common among all computer systems and how they affect general application performance. Written from the programmer's perspective, this book strives to teach readers how understanding basic elements of computer systems and executing real practice can lead them to create better programs.

Spanning across computer science themes such as hardware architecture, the operating system, and systems software, the Third Edition serves as a comprehensive introduction to programming. This book strives to create programmers who understand all elements of computer systems and will be able to engage in any application of the field--from fixing faulty software, to writing more capable programs, to avoiding common flaws. It lays the groundwork for readers to delve into more intensive topics such as computer architecture, embedded systems, and cyber security.

This book focuses on systems that execute an x86-64 machine code, and recommends that programmers have access to a Linux system for this course. Programmers should have basic familiarity with C or C++.

The Cyclic Fix: My Times Are In God's Hands hightlights God's ability and capability to rule and super-rule in our affairs as Savor and Lord of our lives. It also projects Him to His rightful place in creation, redemption, and the restoration of all things to their former glory as Author, Sustainer and Finisher of things seen and unseen. It augments His absolute control over everything that concerns you. As such, there is nothing about you that has happened to you that has taken Him by surprise. There is no problem, no situation, no circumstance, no trial, no tribulation or trouble that you are going through that is outside of God's control. The Cyclic Fix: My Times Are In God's Hands sets the stage for you therefore to look for the shift in your situation. You see there is a purpose for your pain. Your struggle is only a prelude to your blessings. Your test only forecast your promise. Remember, God is in control of everything that concerns you. Moreover, He has predestined you to live a productive, constructive, and a victorius life. The Cyclic Fix: My Times Are In God's Hands challenges you to stand on the word of God for your life. It doesn't matter how or when the challenge you are up against got started. God will work it out for your good and His glory. Why? Because He is the God of a good ending. You have His word: ...we know that all things work together for good to them who are called according to his purpose. Be encouraged, your night is almost over. Your morning is just a daybreak away.

Data Segmentation And Model Selection For Computer Vision

RRP $299.99

The primary focus of this book is on techniques for segmentation of visual data. By "visual data," we mean data derived from a single image or from a sequence of images. By "segmentation" we mean breaking the visual data into meaningful parts or segments. However, in general, we do not mean "any old data": but data fundamental to the operation of robotic devices such as the range to and motion of objects in a scene. Having said that, much of what is covered in this book is far more general: The above merely describes our driving interests. The central emphasis of this book is that segmentation involves model fitting. We believe this to be true either implicitly (as a conscious or sub conscious guiding principle of those who develop various approaches) or explicitly. What makes model-fitting in computer vision especially hard? There are a number of factors involved in answering this question. The amount of data involved is very large. The number of segments and types (models) are not known in advance (and can sometimes rapidly change over time). The sensors we have involve the introduction of noise. Usually, we require fast ("real-time" or near real-time) computation of solutions independent of any human intervention/supervision. Chapter 1 summarizes many of the attempts of computer vision researchers to solve the problem of segmenta tion in these difficult circumstances."
